Forest Grove is a family of believers whose mission is to exalt Jesus, love our neighbor, share the gospel, and disciple the believer. We want to see the residents of the Lucas and Allen communities turn, trust, treasure, and tell others about Jesus. We hope to accomplish this with a simple strategy of expository preaching, intentional worship, authentic community, and sacrificial stewardship.

Forest Grove’s mission is to exalt Jesus, love our neighbor, share the gospel, and disciple the believer.

Jesus said that the two greatest commandments are to love God with all that you have and to love your neighbor as yourself. He ends the gospel of Matthew with the great commission: go and share the gospel and make disciples. Our mission, then, is to obey the great commandments and the great commission.

Our History

Forest Grove Christian Church began in local homes in the Lucas, Texas area in 1847-48 with members of the Church of Christ (Christian Church). It was formally organized as a church on July 23, 1858. The names of the founders are also found among the pioneers of Collin County. The first church building was dedicated in 1875, and it was replaced in 1953. The church closed on April 8, 1984, but reopened on October 11, 1992. In 2013 the church began the process of ending its affiliation with the Disciples of Christ and becoming an independent Non-Denominational Bible Church. In the summer of 2018, the church officially changed its name to Forest Grove Church, embracing its rich heritage, yet envisioning a bright future ahead.

A Family of Believers

Forest Grove Church is a family of believers that values expository preaching, intentional worship, authentic community, and sacrificial stewardship.
Expository Preaching: We believe expository preaching is the most important aspect of a worship service. Expository, or expositional preaching, is when the main point of the text is the main point of the passage. We believe in the truthfulness and trustworthiness of God’s revelation in His Word and as a result, when we preach, we want to preach God’s Word and not our own. We usually preach through books of the Bible but there are occasions when we will have a topical expository sermon or series. You can listen to our sermons here
Intentional Worship: We believe in intentional worship. Our worship service is intentional in that everything we do is done to exalt Jesus. We want to proclaim the gospel in every aspect of our service. Our service is intentionally structured to call your attention to worship, sing praises of who God is and what He has done in Jesus, remind the believer of his forgiveness in Jesus, read from God’s Word, pray the Lord’s Prayer, proclaim the gospel in partaking of communion, and exalt Jesus through the faithful preaching of the Word of God. In every service we read Scripture, sing God’s praises, pray the Lord’s Prayer, observe communion, and preach God’s Word. Childcare is provided for those with children up to four years of age!
Authentic Community: We believe in caring for each other’s needs and spurring each other on toward love and good works in the name of Jesus. On Sunday’s, people come in anything from a suit to a t-shirt and shorts. We do not care what attire you prefer to wear to church just as long as you come. Our desire is to continue to grow the bonds of our love toward one another and invite you and others to join our family. We realize that everyone is broken and in Jesus we are made whole again.
Sacrificial Stewardship: We believe that God has created everything and, therefore, everything we own is God’s. This means that we are stewards of everything we have: time, money, resources, energy, etc.  The gospel calls us to be sacrificial stewards of all that we have so that we can exalt Jesus and serve His church. We are to give all of our time, energy, money, and resources to serve Jesus and His church because we are kingdom citizens and we owe God everything.
